Pilates by Theresa
As a qualified Level 3 Mat Pilates and Pre/Post Natal teacher, I have over 13 years experience in teaching both group classes and 1:1 sessions with individuals. I have a further qualification in dealing with Orthopaedic conditions and experience of working with clients who have a variety of medical conditions including: MS, Parkinsons and knee/hip replacements. As a CIMSPA member (Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity) , I undertake regular CPD courses to maintain a high professional standard.
Before beginning my training at the Energywise Academy in Edinburgh, I attended various weekly Pilates classes for over 10 years, initially to help with a chronic lower back issue. This gave me an understanding of what worked for me also the style of class I preferred. I aim to provide a welcoming atmosphere, where clients feel comfortable working within their range of movement, and to help everyone achieve their goals. This may include toning, increased strength, mobility and flexibility. Classes are small, friendly, mixed ability groups and suitable for all levels.
What is Pilates?
Pilates is low impact and trains several muscle groups at the same time. It targets your deep postural muscles, building strength from the inside, relaxing your body and bringing it to correct alignment. It helps re-shape your body, achieving the perfect balance between strength and flexibility.

"I have been attending classes at Pilates with Theresa for over 8 years, first coming to it to recover fitness after a bout of sciatica. This is a wonderful form of exercise. Theresa is extremely well qualified and the exercises can be adapted to help people where they are in levels of fitness as well enabling progress to where they would like to be. It’s a journey to fitness. During lockdown Theresa introduced us to classes on Zoom, providing several a week. This not only sustained and improved our level of fitness but helped us remain connected boosting our mental health as well. I now do a combination of in person classes and zoom classes and am fitter that I have ever been. Theresa has an excellent and warm teaching manner and the classes are great! I’ve also made some lovely friends."

"I have been attending Theresa's Pilates classes for a few years and as a result my general fitness and wellbeing have greatly improved. The classes are fun, with members being welcoming and non- judgemental. All exercises are demonstrated and explained and everyone is able to work within their own level of ability whilst being encouraged to challenge themselves when they feel ready. Theresa has a vast depth of knowledge and experience in her field along with an excellent rapport and commitment towards her clients. I always look forward to the classes as the benefits are amazing, as is the relaxation period at the end of class!
I thoroughly recommend "Pilates with Theresa!"

It is a very welcoming friendly class and suitable for fitness levels.
Theresa can adapt the exercises to compensate for any injuries, aches or pain that anyone has.
